The 2017 S.A. HORRORFEST line-up will endeavour to bring you everything from
vampires, ghosts, the undead, possession, and the psychologically unhinged,
to demons, an anthology piece, a genre documentary, classics,
dozens of short films & more. Most movies will make their African premiere.
Confirmed feature- and short films will be listed here.
In this incredible futuristic vision (of 1927), the vast city of Metropolis has the suffering working class live, work and struggle
underground, while the privileged bask high up in their towers. But the son of the city's mastermind falls in love with a
working class prophet who predicts the coming of a savior to mediate their differences (but it won't come without chaos and destruction!)
With fantastic sets and amazing cinematography, this film was decades ahead of its time, still resonating today - here on
28 October enhanced with a live original soundtrack at the South African HorrorFest.
Fancy being part of the 2017 HorrorFest's BLOODY PARCHMENT literary event?

by October 16 *.

ABOUT THE SOUTH AFRICAN HORRORFEST
In 2004 Paul Blom and Sonja Ruppersberg decided to rectify the issue of the absence of a dedicated Horror event in South Africa.
The first S.A. HorrorFest (then also known as the Horror Festacular) launched in 2005.
Besides being a Horror / Chiller / Thriller film festival (screening feature films and short films from around the world),
from the start it made a point of expanding into a broad Halloween event by incorporating
new live soundtrack performances to classic silent films by The Makabra Ensemble,
the Bloody Parchment literary chapter, Halloween dress-up competition, a night market and more.
