The Definitive History of One of Genre Cinema’s Most Elusive Cult Visionaries
Although he was only 25 when he died Michael Reeves opened up genre cinema to new possibilities. Now considered one of the forefathers of folk horror for his groundbreaking masterpiece Witchfinder General (1968) Reeves certainly left his mark as a director. The fact he wasn't around long enough to expand on his legacy, let alone celebrate it, is one of the biggest tragedies of British film history.
Directed by Dima Ballin

Doctor Sleep TRAILER:
Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook Hotel 40 years earlier (in The Shining), Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the “shine.”
Instinctively recognizing that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers, The True Knot, who feed off the shine of innocents in their quest for immortality.
Forming an unlikely alliance, Dan and Abra engage in a brutal life-or-death battle with Rose. Abra’s innocence and fearless embrace of her shine compel Dan to call upon his own powers as never before — at once facing his fears and reawakening ghosts of the past.

‘Horror Film Director Found Slain, Buried Under Floor’, screamed the August 1995 headline in The Los Angeles Times. But the whole truth behind Al Adamson’s strange life and ghastly death reveals perhaps the most bizarre career in Hollywood history.
From his early years as the son of a silent screen cowboy, through the production of some 30 lurid low budget pictures including SATAN'S SADISTS, DRACULA VS. FRANKENSTEIN and THE NAUGHTY STEWARDESSES, to his grisly demise, the Al Adamson story remains wild beyond belief. Told through over 40 first-person recollections from friends, family, colleagues and historians, plus rare clips and archival interviews with Adamson himself, BLOOD & FLESH: THE REEL LIFE & GHASTLY DEATH OF AL ADAMSON is the delightful, dirty and deadly documentary of bikers, go-go dancers, aging Hollywood actors, porn stars, freak-out girls, Charles Manson, Colonel Sanders, alien conspiracies, bad contractors and “scenes so SICK the Movies could never show them before!"
Blood & Flesh documentary TRAILER:
Directed by David Gregory (who directed the documentary on SA born filmmaker Richard Stanley's Doctor Moreau experience)
With filmmakers trying their utmost to be serious, this kind of unbridled absurdity is just what we need!

Starring Gregory Cohan, Claire Hsu, Nicholas M. Garofolo, Alyssa Kempinski

While we've screened many hilarious horror movies over a decade and a half, for the first time this year the HorrorFest embarks on incorporating live comedy!
Sometimes there is nothing as good as a bad movie!
Imagine watching a spectacular(ly bad) flick with your friends… Your friends who like to comment on the movie as you watch…. And are holding microphones…
Welcome to the live comedy commentary version of "Curse of the Swamp Creature", with comedian Rob van Vuuren, and satirist Karen Jeynes!
In this B-movie, deep in the rural swamps of Texas, stereotypical mad scientist Dr Simond Trent is conducting experiments on the locals, as exploitative white men like to do. It's a hobby that keeps him amused, and his alligators well fed. But when some oil surveyors arrive, he decides to really take mad scientist to the next level...
Rob has slapped SAffers with his unique brand of humour for decades, with stand-up, feature films, and of course as one half of Corne & Twakkie. BOOK NOW

ABOUT THE SOUTH AFRICAN HORRORFEST
In 2004 Paul Blom and Sonja Ruppersberg decided to rectify the issue of the absence of a dedicated Horror event in South Africa.
The first S.A. HorrorFest (then also known as the Horror Festacular) launched in 2005.
Besides being a Horror / Chiller / Thriller film festival (screening feature films and short films from around the world),
from the start it made a point of expanding into a broad Halloween event by incorporating
new live soundtrack performances to classic silent films by The Makabra Ensemble,
the Bloody Parchment literary chapter, Halloween dress-up competition, a night market and more.
HorrorFest organizers Sonja & Paul at the Zombie Walk, with their boy Zoltan
