The Makabra Ensemble


The Makabra Ensemble performance at The Labia Theatre is pending.
If it doesn't happen, for the 101st anniversary of The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari, we'll stream the group's
2007 live performance of this silent classic, with a window of the live performance included!

The Makabra members are  Sonja Ruppersberg, Simon Ratcliffe, Matthijs Van Dijk 
 Paul Andre Blom, Sean Ou Tim, and Ronnie Belcher.


One of the HorrorFest highlights.
The Makabra Ensemble consists of a collection of diverse musicians, creating new soundtracks to classic silent films,
performing it live beneath the big screen!
It always coincides with the Halloween dress-up competition, which we'll do via the Facebook group.
With Covid seating restrictions, updates will follow on how this will be handled.

the festival experience to attend as guests and interact with the audience via Q&As, signings and more.

This year will include Rob van Vuuren and other cast from SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE.


Past guests have included Resident Evil franchise producer-director team Paul W.S. Anderson and Jeremy Bolt (UK / USA),
documentarian & lecturer Calum Waddell (UK), Cosmesis special make-up FX master Clinton Smith (ZA),
actress Fiona Horrigan (USA), producer Yash Patniak (India) and more.
2017 our special guest was director Darrell James Roodt, and in 2018
the Garcia brothers with cast & crew of Hell Trip.
